County Officials Recognize Black History Month In Hackensack

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Bergen County officials will celebrate Black History Month in a program at the Bergen County Administration Building in Hackensack Thursday, Feb. 18.

The program will be given by County Executive Jim Tedesco of Paramus, the Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the county African-American Advisory Committee.

The event, commemorating Hallowed Ground Sites of African American Memories, will be in the freeholder meeting room, 5th floor, at 6 p.m. Hallowed Grounds is the 2016 theme of ASALH, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. 

ASALH was founded by Carter G. Woodson, and is the organization that began the movement to establish Black History Month.

The public is invited, and light refreshments will be served.
